近年來矽光子技術由研發階段漸漸導向市場，主要在於由「電訊號」改為「光訊號」來傳遞的技術，可同時解決傳輸距離增加、資料頻寬快速成長與功耗冷卻等瓶頸，預估2022年將突破十億美金的門檻，因而驅使企業以併購方式，加速彌補在關鍵技術/市場區隔/顧客上的不足；研發方面，歐美日各地已投入多年，並聯合產官學研成立指標性組織或開發計畫，對於本技術的普及更有推波助瀾之效。工研院將於2018年1月17日舉辦「全球矽光子趨勢論壇」，邀請日本PETRA、法國CEA-LETI及科技部矽光子計畫總召集等重量級講師，分享各地的矽光子發展動向，誠摯邀請各界先進撥冗蒞臨指導。
Due to the data transmission technology from electrical signals converted to optical signals for resolving the issues and requirements of longer transmission distance, rapid growth of transmission bandwidth and lower power consumption, the Silicon Photonics technology has been moved forward from R&D stage to commercialization stage. It is estimated that the market size will reach $1B in 2022. This has driven companies to rapidly fill up the key technology gap, market segmentation and few customers by acquisitions. At the same time, Europe, USA and Japan have foreseen the ramping up in the Silicon Photonics market and devoted in advance to the field for many years. It not only expedites the recognition of the Silicon Photonics but also promotes technology development by cross organizations projects. In view of this, ITRI is going to hold “2018 Global Silicon Photonics Trend Forum” on January the 17th, 2018 and invites distinguished experts from PETRA Japan, CEA-LETI France and MOST Taiwan to share the status and future trends of Silicon Photonics from different points of view. You are highly welcome to attend this event and exchange opinions with participants.
